Foodcycle is a charity whos vision is a society where no one is hungry or lonely.
This is done by volunteers who collect surplus food and cook up meals for the community.
This isn’t a food bank it’s a community project to try and fight food poverty by cooking nutritious meals.
There’s a great need for this type of project as a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet.
At this time of year there’s even more emphasis on helping people as struggles increase tenfold.
Society now is so closed off from each other with anger, suspicion and disrespect all prevelant.
With a project such as FoodCycle it gives communities a chance to come together, get to know each other better.
This great project has been going since 2009 and has evolved and spread throughout the country.
Saving surplus food from going to waste and providing meals for people is such a good cause.
Too much food is wasted and too many people are going hungry unessesarily, this is a great step forward.
Not only does FoodCycle provide meals it’s also a chance for people to make friends.
Lonliness is such a horrible thing and a lot of people live alone with no social contact at all.
If you combine poverty and lonliness you have a terrible combination that affects mental and physical health.
